ALaS…! It’s Ice Bucket and Selfie again…

Earlier when Facebook was at its peak, predicting the news-feed was not such an easy task. Every time we login to our account, we would definitely find something meaningful that would make us Awe

There used to be beautiful photographs taken by Hubble Telescope or some extremely funny cartoons or the facts you couldn’t even think of (like 2+2=5 !) or your friend posing along some random celebrity… Facebook was fun to watch out, especially when you desperately needed a power-break during your office hours or when you got stuck in some ‘I-don’t-know-what-Iam-doing-here’ kind of a marriage…

Then slowly our feeds started to change and so did our expressions – from Awe to OMG… The beautiful photographs were no longer treated as the sensation-of-the-day as the then facebookers demanded x-factor in your posts. And moreover, most of the photos were been replaced by videos, which used to cover vast areas of topics like – How a mere shampoo can cause a skin cancer (in HD) or How mermaids were found in so-and-so sea shore (P.S – Any resemblance with a previous movie characters is purely coincidental…!) or How would an Alien order a cup of cappuccino when they would visit the Earth (in English subtitles) – Simply no mere respect for ‘Faint-Hearts’…

And then came the present era with feeds piling up mainly because of three things – Selfies, Ice Bucket Challenge and Selfies (Ops! Did I mention Selfies earlier? Selfies-selfies-selfies…). With the front cameras constantly improving their efficiency, the selfie lovers are enjoying both the technology as well as the comments they are getting… So if there is one thing that can divert me from this ‘Selfie-Mania’, then the celestial answer would be ALaS ! – I mean the ALS-Ice Bucket Challenge…

If getting doused by a bucket full of ice water is giving you a ‘cool’ look in Facebook (I mean literally cool), how come it is helpful for promoting ‘Aquatrophic Linear Sclerosis’ – ALS. And if at all the Ice Bucket Challenge is really about spreading awareness about ALS, then I must say that with the given popularity the ALS-IBC is getting in the social media, everyone who are reading this post must identify that ALS ‘actually’ means “ Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis” – No offence there…

So, travelling via ‘Awe – OMG – ALaS’ highway, our journey finally came to where we are at ‘present’. But unless there is some alien computer virus which can shut down all the computer grids simultaneously, I don’t believe that Facebook is not having the any future (Although the future may not be that bright). So, the question of the hour is how would that future be..? After ‘Awe-OMG-ALaS’, where would our journey in Facebook lead to…?

Well, only time will tell us…

So the best thing we can do right now is to take few Selfies and challenge our friends (or the else) for ALS-IBC because, if there is one thing about this generation – Everything becomes Old-fashioned in the blink of an eye. So let’s put all the sane and sensible feelings aside and let’s enjoy the present trend before its too late…

Well..That was cool...
Well..That was cool…

Digitalization of Friendship…!

“ An individual can have anything that a life can offer – career, family and money – but if a person didn’t have a good friend, his or her life would be fundamentally lacking…”

– Aristotle

Friendship is one of the purest relations on this Earth and its origin states back to the beginning of the human civilization or even earlier…Friendship allows us to see ourselves from the perspective of others. They open up new interests and deepen the current ones. Human beings are social beings and hence good friendship always makes our life a wholesome and awesome experience…

Things change rapidly with respect to time… And it is that constant evolution of the world around us that keeps our life interesting and exciting… But there are certain things that shouldn’t be disturbed or rather changed. Sometimes, we run with such a speed that we tend to forget our actual destination – if there is one such thing present…

On this friendship day, I just want to question myself – Are we ready for this digitalisation of friendship? Does this lightning speed communication actually help us to gain more friends? Do the next generation feel themselves more connected or more alone…?

Well, according to many researchers, Social media is affecting the teen’s concept of friendship. Young people feel themselves socially supported by having a large network of online friends, whom they may never see… The ease of electronic communication may be making teens less interested in face-to-face communication with their friends. Instead many young people now derive personal support and affirmation form the ‘Likes’ and ‘Comments’ to their postings…

But this doesn’t mean that we should all stop social networking…Digital communication is not a bad thing. But if we are losing the opportunity to meet with our friends and talk with them face-to-face; Now that’s a problem…

Too much of anything is not good and this applies for the communication as well. So I think it would be wise to atleast take a break from our Cyber-World and spend some time in our bookstore, where you can buy your favourite book to your friend…Now that’s a positive example you can give to the next generation on this friendship day.

C.I.A – Children In Action

Oh boy., little boy,

You are so lucky.

Till your life becomes

Very much tricky…!

You are the representative for the nation’s glory,

You are the hero of your own story…

You can do as you like whatever you want,

Whatever your heart says, but we really can’t…

These things for you may be really small,

But at our age, you will not get them at all…

Because you are the only one who can do it well,

While our lives are cutting out in front of DELL…!

Oh boy., little boy,

You are so lucky.

Till your life becomes

Very much tricky…!

Lets stop fooling ourselves…!

Things seems a bit odd when we constantly tell our brain that nothing is believable and no one can be trusted. Things seems a bit odd when we examine someone just like Sherlock Homes to know whether the other person is saying true or not… Well, things seems a bit odd when I say, “ I saw an alien “ – or in this case I am just fooling you…

Well… a lot of things happen on ‘The Fool’s Day’ – April the first and talking about fools, one thing clearly hits my mind. It is that we – The Humans are all fools to not live in the “fool’s paradise”…

In this quantum generation, we are all surrounded by numerous problems, well beyond the number of stars in our galaxy that we almost forget to enjoy our ‘One-and-only-one’ life in this Blue Planet…

Human development is going at a rapid pace but one thing that we are leaving behind that is quite essential for our sustainable development is ‘Peace of mind’… We are actually fooling ourselves in terms of progress and development, which is a like running around to touch the sky with our fingers…

So on this fool’s day, “ Let us stop fooling ourselves ” and let’s try to enjoy the warmth of the sunshine – the beautiful nature and more essentially the unpredicted life of a human being…

Forest – For Rest …?

Millions of years ago, there was an event named “ Carboniferous Rainforest Collapse ”, where sharp climatic changes destroyed tropical rainforests, causing the extinction of many plant and animal species… Since then, there was a gradual decrease in the worldwide greenery…

The decline in the forest affected the climatic conditions and those climatic conditions declined the forests even further…

It’s hard to believe that a single event could change the course of the history. And one thing which comes along with the history is – It cannot be changed…

Change – Change in the human behaviour – change in the course of the nature or in this case ‘ gradual increase in the forest cover ‘… On this World Forestry Day – 21st March, let’s celebrate this change and make it as an example for the coming generations…

Earlier it was thought that the decline in the forest area is unstoppable and inevitable; forget about the increment, many organisations fought just to stop the unnecessary destruction… Forest area, which contains about 90% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity, was soon assumed to be taking rest – forever…

Forest – for rest …?

Everything went gloomy and downhearted not until the dragon country – China determined for the “ Green wall of China “  project. And now, its forest cover which was 12% some two decades ago grown to 16.55%… And each present growth in the forest area can remove billions of tons of carbon each year, emitted into the atmosphere. Now that’s what called the best example you could set for the future generations…

Forest – for the best…!

So let’s cheer for all those who created history and let’s start working together so that the possible extinction could be prevented.

Let’s do it for our ‘Mother’ Nature…

Let’s dream with the Mega Mind…

“Some say Life is not a race to be won – But it’s a glory to be achieved.” Well, in either the case, there need to be a specific target in our mind so that we could focus all our attention on that single thing.

But what if it is achieved ? What if the race has been won? What next…?

Well, Flynn Rider once said, “ Go look after an another dream…” Fortunately our human dreams are endless. But the point is which dream is worth achieving ? which dream is worth running ?

Believe me, when I was watching the animated movie “MegaMind”, all these things zoomed across my grey matter…

In the movie, when MegaMind defeated his arch-rival  superhero, he was left with no other work to do… He felt really bored and its then he made all the stupid mistakes, which had some serious impacts as the movie progresses.

So whose mistake was it then…?

Was it the mistake of MegaMind to feel bored ?

Was it the mistake of the Superhero to lose that easily ?

Or was it the mistake of me for naming it as a mistake ?

Even according to the Science, a Human brain can go fuzzy if we don’t have any specific idea on what we actually want to think. Hence, what we choose to think matters a lot…

So, do we need to maintain a list on what we should choose to think after we lived this dream ? I guess we should  – and I call it a “ Mega Dream List “ It’s more like a ‘refill to a pen’ – If one gets out of the ink, we need to replace with another one and start writing…

So let’s take a ‘strategic timeout’ in our life race and start thinking about our next dream…

Let’s use our MegaMind…

Mega Dream List…?

If the Earth dies …

“If the Earth dies – you die.

If you die – the Earth survives…”

Every day – we ’The Humans’ think that we are contributing for something great on this planet. We think that the Earth must be fortunate enough to carry us…But after reading the earlier dialogue, we realise that we are nothing more than some complex organisms, who first searched for food, clothing and shelter during the early evolution process and later utilised every possible resource of this Earth – for his own personal needs and greed…

The starting dialogue of this article is from the 2008 American Science fiction film, “The Day the Earth Stood Still”. It follows ‘Klaatu’ [An alien messenger in human form], who comes here as a result of humankind’s environmental damage to the Earth, to change our human behaviour or to eradicate us from the Earth…

So – do we deserve a second chance?

Well…I don’t believe that some alien Klaatu will to ‘America’ to remind us that we are out of time…And hence there is no question of a second chance here.

Then who will tap us when we are sleeping in a room full of poisonous fumes..? Our nature will. And it will act as the messenger as well as the Executioner…And unlike the Klaatu, it isn’t going to speak clearly in English, “You are running out of time…” It does leave clues, but we need to be patient enough to think about them.

2013 is termed as one of the hottest year ever! Isn’t it a straight forward clue that our atmosphere is no longer in a position to withstand such a large quantities of Greenhouse gases…

So let’s start to think before it is too late… And first, let’s create awareness among the people about the disintegration of the Natural environment and its harmful effects on plants, animals and also the Humans…

Everyone make mistakes. It’s in the Human nature… It’s also in the nature of humans to learn from their mistakes… and if we don’t – then what’s the point in living? What’s the point in a second chance? And above all, what’s the point of our evolution…?

Do we deserve the second chance...?
Do we deserve the second chance…?

The future of ‘T’ – Time traveling,Tachyons and T-800s…!

Tourism had always been vibe with lot of emotions, thanks to the most dominant species on this Earth that our travelling isn’t just some migrating from the climatic adversities. It is actually much more than that…And now, lets cheer for every tourist around the world,on this ‘World Tourism Day’ on Sept 27th and which brings to me next question., What is tourism without travelling and then, what’s the future of travelling..? Surely we have our footprints on air, water and land [ I am also including moon here…] But what about the most mysterious ocean of which we discussed only in the fantasies…The mysterious ocean of time…

Well, its not literally an ocean, or our Captain Jack Sparrow would steer his Black Pearl through it…And unless you are some terminator T-800 or some mysterious X-men who can control the Tachyons, present in the hypothetical world, there is no easy means to sail through this ocean…

But that doesn’t mean that there is no other way to travel the time. The most simple one is to wait for another 30-40 years… [ hmm… why should we wait for something, which should actually stop our waiting..? ] well, it is really complex, but believe me, the renowned scientist Stephen Hawking actually proposed few ways to travel through time and as now, we have everything to make It possible. Everything expect Technology…But don’t get disappointed, as I am going to propose two such ways to travel in time – and if you ask about technology, you take care of it yourself…

Merry ‘Go Round’  :-

Love those bright stars and other heavenly bodies in the sky ? Then you can actually travel time by sitting in a Space Shuttle, and all you need to do is to revolve round a huge Black Hole, without actually falling into it. [ even light can’t escape through it, but you need to…] And if at all you are some survivor like Wolverine…then who knows, you may actually witness 2040 Olympics with just few years in space…!

The Future Express  :-

So – scared of those Black Holes and Space Shuttles, but still want to travel the time…? Well, there is actually an another way in which you don’t have to leave this Earth., where all you need to do is to travel around this globe… Sounds interesting ? Then let me tell you that, this ‘Future Express’ will travel near to the speed of light. And that means that travel about 7 times round the Earth in just 1 sec ! Now – did it sound interesting…?

So – Are there any other means to sail through this ocean, without any sophisticated technology..?

Well, there are actually many from ages. But we never gave a thought about them…You can actually travel ‘past’ by reading a great ‘Historical book’ and you can actually ‘teleport’ yourself into an another world by reading some ‘Fantasy’…And, as for the future – it better be ‘Wrapped’…it adds beauty to our lives, just as what a ‘Gift-Wrapper’ does to a birthday gift…

A little hope – a little anxiety – a little uncertainty, well…these are the little things that differentiate us from T-800s…

only to add your worries...
only to add your worries…

Flavors of a dream…

This is my third and final installment regarding animation movies and their true meaning behind them…The movie I am about to discuss is called ‘Ratatouille ‘(rat.a.too.ee) – an old French dish.It is also coming from Pixar animation studios, the very creators of WALL-E and Up!,my previous topics…

Ratatouille is far different from the rest,as it mainly concentrates on a rat named Remy, who dreams of becoming a chef and tries to achieve his goal with the help of a human friend, who works in a famous restaurant of Paris…Pretty much fantasy and far away from the reality.,this old recipe carries a bunch of genuine flavors of the present world…

The rat becoming a chef, which is the main theme of the movie may not be that relative for us.But there is still some thing very familiar…It is about a person choosing an unorthodox and ‘out-of-the-box’ career, which is still unique and risky – as many of us think…As it is said in the end of this movie that ‘the newer ones are always gone through the usual criticism and discrimination.,while the one who criticize them sits in a comfort zone.’ Unfortunately, this brand new phenomenon is not just limited to rats while it is quite familiar to many among us…It is the freedom of expression that matters here the most.

I am a chef..!
I am a chef..!

‘It is very difficult to gain someone’s trust.,but it hardly takes few bad seconds to break it…’Remy forming an alliance with Linguini is a simple example of trust where both of them harmonize each other…Linguini provides an opportunity for Remy to live his goal of becoming a chef and Remy in-turn helps Linguini to work with a chef-identity.

But things turned against them when both of them lost their trust against each other…What Remy did is something which cannot be accepted – you may love a single rat but you don’t fancy a cluster of them in your topography, that too if it is your kitchen…But I seriously believe in second chances and so did Linguini.Sometimes, mistakes happen with our beloved and we need to provide them an opportunity to come out of it…

Finally, let us discuss about chef Auguste Gusteau’s famous motto – ‘Anyone can cook.’ Can we really do the things that we are meager..? something we didn’t quite know about..? I hope we can,if we believe so…

Not everyone is a great artist.,but there is a great artist in everyone…

The power of promise…

This week I am going to write about another animation movie that I watched quite recently – Up!  It came from the Disney Pixar animation studios, the very creators of WALL-E,my last topic. But fortunately, this time around,I have nothing to complain about the humankind..Instead I am proud of the human, who can show such ‘pure love’ on others, which give him the power to achieve almost such impossible tasks…This movie taught me some valuable real life lessons – one such lesson is ‘The power of promise…’.

Cross your Heart…these three small and simple words have a great meaning in them. When we cross our heart that we are to do something;we try our level best to fulfill it.And if we don’t accomplish,it makes us to feel guilty.

Sometimes, things become such helpless that we actually cant reach our goal.We desperately accept the defeat and move on…In this movie also,Mr. Carl Fredricksen,an elderly widower, was in no position to go South America and complete the promise made to his lifelong love…But 78-year-old Carl didn’t give up. He flew to Paradise falls by tying thousands of balloons to his home !

Now,when things aren’t going in our way, then we should find a new way,a unique-think out of the box way.Mr.Carl Fredicksen found it in the movie. He made something nearly impossible to something really unique…

Now,when we are talking about promises;what if we have to choose between two of our words.what if “Crossing the hearts reaches a crossroads..?”.we obviously need to make a choice-A choice that can actually take us away from the other.

In this movie also Carl reached a crossroad when he could save either his house or a bird.He then choose to save his house, which resulted in the kidnap of the bird.I actually thought him to be ‘selfish’ at that instant. But he just followed his heart…He saw the situation with his heart rather with his brain. He was so attached to his home that he neither cared his life nor other’s.And when he fulfilled his wife’s dream,he recognized the seriousness of the issue. Some times it is hard to come out of the past…But we need to realize that the present is the only thing we have in our hand.We should never loose it.

Carl then kept his past behind and went to save the bird. He choose to be the best of himself. And when he reached the crossroads again,he gave away his home to save the rest.He then regarded it as just a house…!

Memories are always special…But still, they are not valuable than life.Life is the most beautiful thing on this Earth. We should enjoy every moment of it,like an adventure. And when we accomplished one.,we should go look out for an another…

I don’t know what made me to write this thing. But I just felt that we need to learn a lot from this movie – about the fragile relations, about the essence of love and about us – the spirit of human beings to accomplish such impossible tasks…

I thank Pixar for providing such touching movies to this generation and I am eager to start my next article,on another Pixar movie, and hope to complete my trilogy on animation with a positive note…

Up above the world so high...
Up above the world so high…
