Football – still isn’t “premier” in India…

After the stunning success of Indian Premier League (IPL) ,many sporting boards in India prepared themselves to their own precious – prosperous – premier leagues…And the list includes Hockey India League,Golf Premier League,Indian Volleyball League and the very latest and nascent Badminton Premier League, which started a few days earlier.Things are not done yet as many sporting leagues which includes boxing, wrestling and racing are getting ready for their grand launch…

Fortunately,we-Indians have covered almost every major sport in these premier leagues…Every sport but one…

Football…

The largest following sport in the world, which has its presence in more countries than the United Nations has nothing premier to do in India…

From the very ages,India has been mild about soccer and its current FIFA world rank of 145 didn’t bring any smile on the football freaks in the country.

To shine in the world football,we first need to polish our domestic performance. Durand cup, which was played since 1888,couldn’t achieve in marking its impression on the hearts of the soccer geeks…And this leads us to the i-league,which is considered to be the top Indian professional league in football.Founded in 2007,i-league is failing to attract mass population towards its epicenter, which the premier leagues are meant to do with ease…Its financial problems didn’t increase its beauty either…

So the second most populous country in the world is lagging behind 144 countries in the area of football…

But fortunately,we found a ray of sunshine in football in the form of Yuwa Team from Jharkhand, who won the third place in Under 14 year Donosti Football Cup in Spain.

So,this is actually the right time for the India to have a healthy league for soccer…

Hope football grows both geographically and financially and touch the hearts of the millions in the world…

I can be Premier in India...
I can be Premier in India…
